I earned my Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in child and adolescent psychology, from Xavier University in 2001. Since then, as an independently licensed psychologist, I have provided psychological assessment and treatment addressing an array of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health concerns in both private practice and medical settings. It has been my pleasure to have worked with patients of all ages for over 20 years. I am certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy through the Wellness Institute in Issaquah, Washington. I am also certified in Heartmath Biofeedback Training.
In addition to behavioral health treatment, I offer consultative services that raise the bar for people who desire to reach optimal health and performance. I offer a collaborative approach to promote optimal physical, emotional, and behavioral functioning to reach individual goals and I am excited that with the advancements in virtual treatment I now have the opportunity to provide the most individually tailored, innovative care.
While I welcome the opportunity to work with patients of all ages, I have a strong passion for working with child, adolescent and young adult populations. I appreciate the unique life challenges that these age groups are confronted with and I am always amazed at the resiliency we can work together to develop. No matter what the challenge is, my mission is to empower my patients with the knowledge, insight, and skill they need to achieve their therapeutic goals.
My Approach
I believe therapy is an opportunity for desired change. I aim to reestablish strengths and empower my patients with the confidence and skills they need to achieve their personal goals. Whether I am working with a student, parent, young professional, or an executive, I appreciate that the demands of everyday life can be challenging. We often lose our perspective and suffer emotionally, psychologically, and even physically. I use evidence-based cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT) to help patients gain perspective and build skills for a healthy balance between thoughts, feelings, and actions. I collaborate with parents to provide guidance, education, and strategies to address concerns regarding their child's development, emotional and physical health, and behavior. I strive to offer individually focused services that respect and strengthen the individual and empower the integrity of the family.
I appreciate the apprehension that often goes with reaching out for help. With this in mind, I offer the patients and families I work with the option of teletherapy appointments and/or meeting in a small, confidential office setting. My goal is to ease anxiety regarding the process of working with me. Further, protecting privacy and confidentiality is extremely important to me as it is imperative in building a working relationship of mutual trust. It is important to me to offer a treatment environment that helps my patients feel most comfortable.
Telehealth
Due to busy schedules and limited resources, seeking treatment can be a challenge. Teletherapy offers convenience, in the comfort of your own home. Research suggests online interventions can be just as effective as in-person and often teletherapy reduces the stigma barriers of going to an office setting. Once we establish an appointment time, I will send you a link via email, and you will just need to set up a therapy portal account. All virtual sessions are conducted via a HIPAA compliant platform.
